DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY?
Do you have a plan to leave your house? Your apartment?
Does your apartment building have a plan?
What is the notification method? Are there safe locations?
What are the instructions about leaving?
Do you know the building evacuation plan?
Do you know the layout of your floor/stair exits?
Do you know the number of doors between your apartment and the exit stairs?
Do you know the location of the fire alarm boxes?
The Red Cross advises you to establish a meeting place outside of the home in case of a fire and away from your home in the event of an evacuation.
You should know the address, phone numbers of the meeting place.
Do you have a child in school or camp?
You should know the school?’s emergency plan
Keep the school or camp?’s contact information current,
Know the authorizations.
Do you have a communication plan?
Select a contact person that everyone will call.
Do you have a standard phone ? (during a blackout a cordless phone will not work nor may the cell phone)
