The 112th Precinct Community Council and HSBC BANK USA are co-sponsoring our seventh annual anti-drug essay contest. Essays are to be one page ( 81/2 by 11 ) typed. The essays should include the name of the student , their grade and their phone number. Students in grades 4th though 9th are eligible to participate. Essays should be submitted to the precinct or mailed to our PO Box by December 1st.
The great part of this contest is that our students have a chance to think about why drugs are harmful. We hope that this will reinforce their decisions to refuse drugs. These essays are really special because the essays contain the thoughts of our students on why they should not do drugs.
By focusing on each student?’s individual thoughts and personal responsibility, by encouraging positive peer pressure, and by our community mobilization we are trying to reducing substance abuse by our youth. We thank HSBC BANK USA and the local schools for joining us in in our efforts.
Prizes will be awarded at our December 15th meeting/ holiday party at Russell Sage Junior High School.
