FREE whistles, calendars, vial of life

FREE WHISTLES/ Miniflashlights: During this past year, we learned of the importance of having a whistle for safety and we purchased them for you. In the event of an emergency, the FDNY and the office of emergency management indicated that using a whistle helps locate someone who may be trapped. In addition, for safety- a whistle can be heard if you are being attacked. Whistles are extremely loud and can be heard over a crowd, howling winds and other competing sounds. The whistles that the council has for you are on a keychain with a miniflashlight so you can have it with you in the event of an emergency.

FREE SAFETY CALENDARS FOR YOU: Using a grant from Sen. Stavisky, we are able to give you the 2007 safety calendars. Captain Napolitano and I collaborated on the calendar, the safety tips and the important phone numbers.

FREE VIAL OF LIFE MAGNETS AND INFORMATION SHEETS: This program enables emergency responders who respond to a house or apartment to have the medical and personal information about an individual who is unable to provide it. The community council will be giving out free magnets to be placed on your refrigerator or telephone in the kitchen?—indicating that you are a participant in the program . We also will be distributing the information sheets for you to complete. You should place the information sheet in a plastic bag on the left side of your refrigerator. We also recommend that you place a copy of your information sheet in your go bag.
