Dear Neighbor:
I am thrilled to be able to announce lots of exciting plans and programs for your benefit this fall. I hope that you have a chance to participate with our precinct council.
Our paint-over of graffiti is on October 14th. Meet us at the precinct at 9:00 AM. Free refreshments will be provided and certificates of appreciation will be distributed to everyone who participates. On October 21st, there is another DMV accident prevention course for your benefit. By taking this course, you can reduce your driver violation point total by a maximum of four points, and save a maximum of 10 percent on your automobile liability insurance premiums. The precinct council is paying for the course for our residents. Pre-registration is required so call 718-520-9321 to secure your place.
Our guest speaker at our October 18th meeting is Captain Raymond Porteous, the Commanding Officer of Transit District 20, who will discuss safety in the subways.
On November 15th we are planning a very special meeting at the NYPD Police
Museum . We will have our meeting, we will provide free dinner refreshments and we will all have the opportunity to explore the museum. The museum will be closed to the public that evening and open only to our community. This is a unique opportunity for all of us and also an opportunity to improve our police/community relations. Our off duty officers are invited to join us as well as our auxiliary police officers. I hope that you will be there too.
We also our planning our December 20th holiday party/meeting. Please save the date. Captain Napolitano and I are also preparing your new free 2007 calendars.
Chief Tuller was our guest speaker at our September meeting. He discussed the reduction in crime in this area for the past 7 years and we thanked him for our excellent police services. Although crime is greatly reduced, we still have to be careful in our communities. At the meeting, Captain Napolitano discussed how a resident?’s video camera helped the precinct to identify the individual who had committed numerous burglaries in our area.
As community members, we can help each other. We can make a difference. If your home, apartment building or store has video equipment, please be sure that it is working. The tapes are very useful. If you see someone in the area that seems to be suspicious - call 911. The precinct still has the block watcher program.
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a sweet, safe new year. I look forward to participating with each of you. I also would like to officially welcome our new community affairs officers Bobby Beryl and Gigi Redzematovic?— we look forward to working with them. As many of you know, P.O. Valovage will be retiring in December and PO Everoski will be promoted to Sergeant in the near future?– WE WISH THEM OUR BEST!.
BE CAREFUL! STAY SAFE! Very truly yours,
Heidi Harrison Chain
