The 112th Precinct Community Council is leading a community/police partnership to promote the safety of our youth and to combat the graffiti-vandalism in the community. We wrote and published a brochure to provide information on how to tell if a child is engaged in graffiti-vandalism .Email us if you want a copy of the brochure or come to our council meeting.
We had a paint over to combat the graffiti in Forest Hills and Rego Park. The precinct council bought paint and the council also received donations from Assemblyman Hevesi and $25 donation from Home Depot. As graffiti impacts all of our quality of life and affects the community, we thank the 112th precinct for helping them in the effort to clean up. Specifically, we thank Captain Napolitano for his support and Lt. D?’Amico, P.O. Klein, P.O. Larson, P.O. Rang, P.O. Mercandante and P.O. Vailes who helped paint over of graffiti. We will announce additional paint overs and welcome you to join our efforts.
In addition to the clean up, another part of their effort to combat graffiti is to educate parents. The council and the precinct are giving presentation to parent groups. Please contact Heidi Chain at Council112@yahoo.com if you want us to arrange a presentation for you. The council is trying to reach all of the parents in the community. We do not want another child hurt and that they want the vandalism of our community to stop.
You can also get involved in our efforts by adopting a location and keeping it clean. We will give you certificates of appreciation for your efforts.
Remember there is an cash reward to report graffiti vandals.
