As of July 1, 2006, the city of Wilmington contracted its animal control to the Stanton SPCA. The Stanton SPCA is responsible for animal control in the city only. The remainder of New Castle County is handled by the Kent County SPCA.
As a pet owner, you are expected to abide by the laws of the state of Delaware and the city of Wilmington with regards to the proper care and control of your pets. If you own a pet, YOU can be held criminally and civilly liable for that animal’s behavior.
