Floodplain Insurance Rates Drop

As of October 1, 2001, floodplain property owners in Portland will save 20% on flood insurance premiums, thanks to the City's participation in the National Flood Insurance Programs's Community Rating System (CRS).
Portland now has a Class 6 rating, which should save each policyholder an average of $120 a year, based on an average annual premium of $607. Premiums billed after October 1, 2001 should reflect the new rates.
