The purpose of ACCORD is stated simply in its name: Arapahoe County Council for Organized, Responsible Development. The organization currently has a membership of 52 homeowner/civic associations that collectively represent over 150,000 residents in the unincorporated county. ACCORD acts as a watchdog or umbrella group which bands together to try and solve mutual problems.
ACCORD Bylaws: Article I, Section 2. Purpose. ACCORD shall provide a coordinated and collective forum for individual local civic and homeowner associations...
Section 3. Information. ACCORD shall serve as an information processing organization for all member organizations and as a "sounding board" for specific ideas and recommendations submitted by member organizations.
Section 4. Communication. ACCORD will establish and maintain effective communication with Arapahoe County officials and other individuals and organizations as necessary...
Meetings are attended by an ACCORD representative from each member association, as well as presidents and/or interested citizens. Meetings are open to the public, but the president reserves the right to limit public comment. Also in attendance are members of the county planning department, Board of County Commissioners, Sheriff's Dept., development community, and press whenever possible. Your elected or appointed representative has the responsibility of voicing the interests of your association and casts his/her vote accordingly. Then each ACCORD representative is to carry ACCORD information/news back to the member association.
ACCORD has no legislative authority and is effective only by working cooperatively with government officials and by being a responsible collective voice of the unincorporated county residents.
