The last meeting of the AGHOA was on February 17, 2005 at the South Metro Fire Station on Maximus Dr. The meeting began at 7 p.m. with Deputy Matt Reichardt talking a little about expected response time now that the City of Lone Tree has their own police department.
Deputy Reichardt informed us that there is a mutual aid agreement between the Douglas County Sheriff?’s office and the City of Lone Tree, much as it was when the City of Lone Tree contracted with the Sheriff?’s office for service, so response time should not negatively impact our community.
Deputy Reichardt also informed those present that 29,000 traffic citations were issued last year. Open garage doors continue to be an open invitation for thieves. The priorities for the Sheriff?’s office are: calls for service, followed by traffic, followed by patrolling.
Our next order of business was the issue of finding someone to take over as South Suburban Representative. The Matching Gifts request was due to be submitted by March 11. (After the meeting, Pat Perlinger volunteered for the position and submitted the paperwork see page 10).
Kathy Koch provided information regarding the continuing seminars the county has organized regarding ?“Medicare and Beyond.?” See details in her column on page 11.
We made a note to get a list of new residents for the Welcome Committee.
During the Silent Auction at Acres Green Elementary School, it was reported to me that the school made over $6,000. That money will be used to improve technology and add to the selections in the library. They were very thankful for our contribution to the auction.
Pat Perlinger is already meeting with representatives from the City of Lone Tree regarding the 4th of July celebration, which will once again be held in Sweetwater Park. Pat mentioned that he needs volunteers to drive the golf carts to get handicapped individuals into and out of the park. The more volunteers he has the better he can break up the workload. Those interested in volunteering should contact Pat. This is a great way to contribute to the celebration!
Terri Coleman is heading up the children?’s parade for Acres Green this year. If you would like to get involved, please give Terri
In other business, the AGHOA received a request from the Acres Green PTO for help funding the Easter Egg Hunt. We voted to provide $100.
We adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
