Hi
My name is Mary Anne Arsenault at 8831 Fraizer St.
My concern is the ice on our street and driveway and in front of mailbox. Some driveways have been cleared by the owners I assume. My husband has been salting ours and chipping away at it. I'm worried about him doing that. We moved here thinking he would be done with that kind of work.
I saw one of our neighbors slip in front of our mailbox area the other day as it's sheer ice. I understand our street is not a city street so they don't maintain it. It is hard to walk safely to the trails also.
Would it be possible to have salt/sand applied when they plow like the city does?
Thank You, Mary Anne & Tom Arsenault

Mary Anne, Tom and WWonRC neighbors - The Landscape and Streets Committee shares your concerns about icy conditions in some spots in the neighborhood. We have authorized our snow removal contractor to do street salting along with a minimal amount of driveway salting. The committee has a small discretionary budget to be used for situations like this, without needing to delay the process with Board approval. The salting effort should be done on Thursday, January 9. As all of us know, the heavy, wet snows that have occurred are difficult for our contractor to remove. Even the stretch of 87th between Frazier and Ghia has packed snow/icy conditions, even when plowed with the City's heavy equipment. That said, where safety is involved, we will try to quickly address the situation. Frazier and Ghia are blessed with minimal traffic (except when someone gets "crosswise" on Flowerfield) which also impacts street conditions - - if we had more traffic, the ice/snow would tend to wear away. Our street usage is even lower in the winter, when our "snowbirds" have flown south. Also, the impact of salt on our receiving waters is a concern - - the State DNR, our local watershed district and several researchers at the UofM, have documented the increased chloride content of our lakes and streams. Wise salt useage is on the top of the list for reducing chlorides in our waters. One final word - we doubt that our snow removal will meet the high standards most of us had in our former, non-association homes. At the same time, most of us moved here to avoid doing lawn and snow tasks. Over time, it is hoped that we all can come to an understanding that balances level of service with cost. Look for the Ground FX guys today and let us know if major issues are not addressed. For the committee, Dave Anderson, co-chair |

My backyard is getting very brown, it needs to have the irrigation system turned on. The weather forecast doesn??™t call for any rain for several days. The new sod across Fraizer on the berm also needs water. It??™s important to keep new sod watered.
