Area Community Exchange

THINK ABOUT IT....

SHOULD it CONCERN Us?....

Where do I live? What is the name? Does it matter? When I moved to my area of the vast 15TH Ward I was as thrilled as the residents of "Beverly", "Lincoln Park", "The Gold Coast", "Hyde Park", etc... are! That's because "Chicago Lawn" was a step "up" for my family. Now, 13 yrs later, no one can seem to tell me where I live anymore!
Some say "Chicago Lawn"(I like THAT), others say it's "West Lawn"(Who ever said it needed to be split up? NOT THE RESIDENTS)and still others say it's been grouped with none other than "Englewood"! Well... When I was sooo elated for my families "Upward" motion back in 1994 guess where I was moving from? You guessed it right if you said "Englewood!" No offence to ANY ONE area but let's face it no one actually wants to go backwards. We all need forward movement to have a feeling of accomplishment. Also the "Powers That Be" can shout all they want that it Doesn't Matter but I KNOW that common sense and history has proven that it does time and time again! Over time a property-owner's land value can go "up" OR "down" depending on what "anchors" there are in the area(schools, businesses, PARKS {Which my area just lost Marquette Park, a huge park w/ Golf and everything! I want it back!} anyway..., community safety/crime rate/reputation etc...)
EVERYONE! tells me it doesn't matter. I guess they feel that I should be happy and not complain. However, I feel like this is Monopoly and someone has physically lifted my home and moved me 10 spaces backward...
Please excuse my atrocious writing skills. If you could get through all the "run-ons" and "fragments", Boy!, I hope, no "mis-spells", let me know what you think.
