Allen Hillman Durant - July 31, 1935 - May 23, 2018

Allen Hillman Durant, age 82 of Jacksonville, FL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was a founding member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church and known for his story telling, love of tech gadgets, and giving dollar bills to his great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Terrance (Terry) and Lillian Durant, as well as his sister, Virginia Williams and grandson, Tyler Zody. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He served for 4 years and then was honorably discharged in 1956. He later went to work for JEA and retired after 30 years from 1968-1998. Allen is survived by his wife, Esther Durant; children, David Durant, Vicki Zody and Michelle Durant; grandchildren, Mandy (Chris) Brewer, Brittany ( L.J.) Fettig, and Caleb Durant; great-grandchildren, Ayden Fettig, Jackson Brewer and Mackenzie Brewer, brother, Dennis Durant, and sister, Gail Elliott. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in his name. Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 11:30 A.M. with military honors.
