It is time again for the annual Athmar Park Neighborhood picnic! On Sunday, August 28th from noon to 4:00pm, we will be having our neighborhood picnic at the southeast corner of Huston Lake Park and you and your family are invited.
This event is always great family fun. The firefighters from Station 23 (850 S. Federal) will bring their truck for kids of all ages to enjoy, provided they are not handling an emergency. Kids may want to wear their bathing suits as the firefighters are known to provide watery fun.
As in previous years, the picnic is potluck. APNA provides soft drinks and/or punch, paper plates and plastic utensils. Please bring something to share with your neighbors, old friends and new. If you have a favorite picnic dish, bring it! It helps if each dish is large enough to serve at least twelve people. IF YOU?’RE NOT SURE WHAT TO BRING, may we suggest that if your last name begins with the letter:
A through D: Bring a SALAD
E through G: Bring some BREAD or CHIPS
H through R: Bing a MAIN DISH
X through Z: Bring HORS D?’OEUVRES
There will be games for children and grown-ups. There are tennis courts and horseshoe pits, baseball diamonds and soccer fields so bring your athletic equipment. You also may want the comfort of your own lawn chair.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the South Platte River flood all longtime residents are asked to come and share their memories with younger and newer residents. Hope to see you there!
