Athmar Park Author Celebrates "Emotions"

Nov 06, 2005

by Karen Cuthbertson

Writing has always come easily for Athmar Park resident Jeffrey Federico. Jeffrey?’s first book of poems, Emotions, was just released this month, but Jeffrey has been writing all his life and sharing his passion for the written word with others. During his days as a student at Lincoln High School in the late 1980?’s, he started a poetry club. However, when one of Jeffrey?’s teachers plagiarized some of Jeffrey?’s poems in a book the teacher published, it caused Jeffrey to hold his future works closer to his chest.

Until, that is, Jeffrey?’s friends convinced him to submit his poems to a publisher.

With some trepidation, Jeffrey submitted about 50 poems to Publish America. A representative called Jeffrey two days later with an offer; so they clearly agreed with Jeffrey?’s friends!

Jeffrey added a few more poems, giving the book a total of 86 poems, grouped into chapters dealing with specific emotions, such as Love, Happiness, Anger, Passion, Sadness, and Dreams. Jeffrey considers dreams to be emotions that may not have been expressed yet.

Jeffrey hopes that his words can make others see things differently. He also has some advice for other aspiring writers: ?“Don?’t wait.?” Jeffrey now wishes that he had published his work long ago, but he was afraid of rejection.

Jeffrey is currently working on his next project, a novel loosely based on his experiences growing up in Bear Valley. Congratulations to Jeffrey!
