Presidents’ Message

Audubon Riverside is growing by leaps and bounds. We have nearly 200 active members, and everyone has jumped in, feet-first, to create one of the finest neighborhood associations. There is something for everyone in this organization.
Our committees have been working so hard. Debbie Roche and Monica Gele, along with their committees, are putting together a fantastic fall festival for our neighborhood. The Planning and Zoning Committee under the guidance of Chairman Chris Fisher and subcommittee Chairman Steve Gele have already tackled the demolition issue proposed at Joseph and Tchoupitoulas, and have much more on their plate. Beautification Chairman Kate Curran and her committee have put into motion a plan to keep our neighborhood attractive and to recognize those that contribute to beautification. The Public Safety Committee will be tackling issues such as community patrol, safety and traffic issues. Communications Committee Chairman Virginia Saussy and William Bowers have been working tirelessly on the newsletter and on setting up and maintaining our website. Our website is the only site in New Orleans to be deemed a Premier Online Neighborhood Association.
Audubon Riverside Neighborhood Association sponsored a candidates forum for the District Attorneys race. All of the candidates participated and answered tough questions from an ARNA panel including David Perlis, Lane Trippe, Allison Cody and Josh Koch, as well as the audience. ARNA member Garland Robinette moderated this well-attended event, despite the efforts of Hurricane Lili. Many thanks to The Uptowner for loaning us their facilities and helping us make the forum a great success.
We have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time, and it is thanks to all of you for your hard work and dedication. I look forward to seeing you all at our Neigh"BOO"hood Fall Festival on October 26, 2002 at Gilmore Park.
