Neighborhood Zoning Workshop

Saturday, November 9, 2002 ,1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Church

This Saturday's workshop is planned as an informative session for our membership to look closely at the fine details of our square blocks to see how all of the various parcels fit against one another. Mark Gauchet, our in-house architect, has digitally composited the Sanborn Maps within our boundaries together as a unique base map enlarged to a pleasantly visible 50 inches x 60 inches. We will take a thorough look at the current zoning districts as well as the new districts of the soon to be revised "Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance" (CZO). Audubon Riverside has emerged to address the recurrent problems that new developments pose to the neighborhood. We need to be aware of the basics of land use and how all the parcels of property in the neighborhood are intended to conform to the requirements of zoning. As a neighborhood organization we must continue to develop sound and reliable methods for representing our concerns, through our own Review Panel Hearings and cooperative meetings with applicants and the various levels of our city's government. Ultimately we should be able to present a comprehensive plan to Councilman Jay Batt and the City Planning Commission which expresses a reasonable series of changes to the CZO which creates a better balance between both our residential and commerical character. Join the Planning and Zoning Committee this weekend in laying out the ground work for Audubon Riverside to help implement important solutions to ongoing zoning dilemmas and keep our neighborhood on the right track.
