TAKE ACTION

First of all, remember that you have the right to peace and safety in your neighborhood. If you hear fireworks "exploding" in your neighborhood call law enforcement.
Do not call 911 as that number should be used for emergencies. Call the non-emergency number. For the City of Tampa Police the number is 231-6130 and for the Hillsborough County Sheriff the number is 247-8200. Try to provide the officers with as specific information (street and block)as you possibly can.

and

Very important - Contact all the Senators and Representative that represent your area and tell them you want fireworks out of your neighborhood. Ask them to strengthen Statute 791 - the fireworks statute now. STRENGTHEN IT -- DON'T WEAKEN IT !!!!

You can reach each of them by clicking on the links shown on our home page, In Hillsborough County you can reach all of them through the Hillsborough County Delagation office. The office is located in downtown Tampa in the Fred Karl County Center,
601 E. Kennedy Boulevard, 24th Floor. Correspondence can be directed to the Members of the Delegation at Post Office Box 1110, Tampa, FL 33601, or by FAX at 813-276-2138 or by e-mail
at hundleyc@hillsboroughcounty.org. The telephone number is 813-272-5865.
One e-mail to this office will be distributed to all Hillsborough County Senators and Representatives. If you know any of them personally it's very effective if you call them.

Also, continue to contact the County Commissioners and personally tell them you want this dangerous product banned in your County.

And last but not least, send letters to the editor for your local newspaper.

If you live outside Hillsborough County, link to your Representatives and Senators using the link shown on our Home Page.

Very important ---Contact your County Commissioners

We must not allow this issue to die. We know there was considerable pressure on the Commissioners by the lobbyist for the fireworks industry and we know contributions have been made by fireworks companies to all the Hillsborough County Commissioners, except Commissioner Ferlita. Therefore it is important that you continue to contact your County Commissioners and tell them you want a ban on illegal fireworks in your County.
