The Northwest Urban Design Study was
unanimously adopted by the City
Council in August. Marcia Stevens
originally assisted the Steering
Committee in laying out this extensive
program ?‘to create an aesthetic
environment that functions efficiently,
creates a vibrant sense of community
and encourages economic revitalization
by capitalizing on those assets that are
unique to the area?’.
The cost estimate for this project is
$3,134,000, which includes a pedestrian
bridge over Northwest Highway at
Timberline and ?‘gateways?’ at the Denton
Drive overpass and Marsh/ Lemmon,
with street scaping between.
Peer Chacko of City Planning and
Development has been assigned fill the
vacancy Marcia left when she moved to
Florida. Peer reports that Marcia
applied for TxDOT funding before she
left. That funding is expected to be
formally approved at TxDOT?’s January,
2000 meeting. Peer is applying for
various other funding, for which he will
have a report at our monthly meeting.
