The Parkway Renovation at I-264

A few years ago you read in these pages a critique on the care and attention the Watterson? Expressway/Southern Parkway interchange was not receiving.?  We want you to know that that has changed dramatically.?  Thanks to a state grant given to us by our then Senator,? Dan Seum,? the professional expertise of the Olmsted Conservancy, and the work of the Department of Parks? under?  the direction of?  Martha Berner, Landscape architect, and our own BNA board member,? Mark Conder,? the dead trees have been removed and? new trees
have been planted. The beat-up benches have been replaced with the spiffy black metal, vandal-resistant ones and unobtrusive, well designed,? much more handsome, trash barrels have done away with the alleyway look the old ones gave.
Mark was BNA's? overseer? for the project.?  He spent a good deal of time, checking on the expenditures and the timetable and the workmanship, to be sure that it was what we had agreed on.?  The job was done so well, that we have enough to have a maintenance contract? to insure the survival of the new trees
Thank you, Mark, for all your time and effort.?  Your knowledge and years of
experience in construction were a great asset in this project.? The project is beautiful and a very handsome entry to our neighborhood.
As to the rest of us,? take a look!?  A good one!!?  You should be very pleased.
