The Bellevue-Hale Board of Trustees met on Jan. 14. The board discussed several issues:
1. Crime action -- Congress Park Neighbors are holding a meeting at 7 p.m., Jan. 20 in Boardroom L106 at National Jewish Hospital to discuss public safety issues along the Colfax corridor. The intent is to form a coalition. Syd Harrision will be attending the meeting on behalf of BH, but others should feel welcome to attend. If you''d like to attend, please contact Barbara Holland at 303-322-2642.
2. Recreation -- Ray Allen volunteered to lead an effort to provide input to the city on the expenditure of bond funds, as well as our matching funds, for improvements to playgrounds and other facilities at Lindsley Park. Ray will contact the city and learn about timelines and other important facts. If you''re interested in helping Ray, please call him at 399-7101.
3. Meetings -- the board likes meeting on the second Thursday of each month
at 7 p.m. General neighborhood meeting will be held on the third Thursday in March, May, and November. A neighborhood picnic will be held on either the second or third Saturday in August.
4. Zoning -- The city council is holding a hearing and will vote on a proposal to rezone a property located at Colfax and Birch from R-2 to B-4 on Jan. 25. The board urges people to attend the meeting. It will be held in the 4th fl. conference room of the city and county building.
The board also urges people to write to the council asking them to deny to rezoning request and to retain the R-2 zone. A change would permit offices, warehouses, fabrication facilities and other non-neighborhood conducive uses.
I am told you can also e;mail councilman Ed Thomas at ethomas@ci.denver.co to
urge him to oppose the action..
