In the name of the entire community, the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association Board recently accepted the 2003 Community Development “Outstanding Neighborhood Project Award,” in recognition of the fine work our residents and friends have done in “improving the quality of life for [our] community.” Specifically, we have received the award for procuring and planting 540 trees in the area, with funds supplied by our membership fees and savings, the office of
2nd District Councilman Dan Baker, and three grants from the Neighborhood Partners Program and Urban Forestry.
Our Board members proudly accepted a beautiful plaque commemorating this achievement at a special luncheon held at the Museum of Latin American Art, Tuesday, April 22nd. It will be available for viewing at the Third Annual Fourth of July Party on Vista Avenue. So, come join us that day in this terrific celebration of neighborhood unity and friendship. We have come a long way in the three years of our existence; we are grateful to all of the members of the community—as well as to Councilman Baker, the Conservation Corps, and student volunteers who made our tree-planting events so successful. Let’s keep those trees—and our organization—healthy and growing!
