From the Neighborhood to NY

Corey Gammel, our very own Bluff Park resident magically captured in writing and delivered in person the sentiments of nearly 4000 LB residents. He did so by creating a huge 18ft x 40ft banner reading ?“UNITED WE STAND?” containing signatures and heart felt messages from Long Beach residents to those most deeply effected by the 9/11 tragedy.

Corey Gammel and Peter Marquez, banner in tow, were given free RT transportation from JetBlue airline to NYC where they personally delivered the sentimental banner to Engine 8 Ladder 2 @ 51st and Lexington in Mid-Manhatten. There they were able to hang the banner on the hotel facing the firehouse where 10 firemen were lost in the World Trade Center Collapse.

Before reaching the final destination the LB born banner made it to Rockefeller Center and set of The Today Show where Katie Couric, Matt Lauer and Al Roker each signed the banner.
Thanks to Corey and Peter for delivering that message of sympathy and patriotism from Long Beach California to New York, because it is true?…United we Stand.
