Beautifying Bluff Park
by Carl Herringer
Prior to proposition 13 being passed several years ago there were several flowers beds in the park area along Ocean Blvd. I believe it could be the time the BPNA propose an idea to the city of Long Beach to allow this group to undertake the establishing of three flower beds in honor of the September 11th incidents.
One honoring New York city, a second honoring Washington DC and a third to the courageous flight crew and passengers who diverted Flight 93 out of the DC area. As Senator John McCain mentioned in an eulogy for one of the passengers, while working in the capitol building that morning, ?“I may very well owe my life to them?”.
Ideally it would be appropriate to anchor these flower beds with flag poles and American Flags. The flower beds would be maintained by the BPNA and interested friends and neighbors. Anyone interested in the project should contact John Fialko or John Parkin to work on the planning and establishing of this project.
