Happy summer! I assumed the role of President a couple months ago, having served on the Board for quite a few years now in other capacities. It is a privilege to live in Bonnie Brae, and to have all of you as neighbors! My wife, 2 children, and golden retriever, Buster, have lived here since 1987. We?’ve done the ?“pop top?”, and witness more traffic than we want on Mississippi and Bonnie Brae Blvd., but we love the community, history, and architecture of our neighborhood. There are few like it.

First, let me thank outgoing President Dejan Damjanovic for all he has done during his term-- especially the picnics and the expert cooking, we?’ve all come to appreciate! He also has done the newsletter. Dejan will stay on the board and continue to contribute.

Mark your calendars now for the annual Bonnie Brae picnic on September 7?’th (see attached article). It is the biggest neighborhood event of the year!

What?’s going on in Bonnie Brae? The biggest issues are: traffic flow, ?“dogs on the loose?” at the park and, of course, ?“pop tops?”. Of course, we are seeing increased traffic flow due to T-Rex and the construction being done on Exposition. The BBNA has asked the Denver Police to monitor traffic speeds on Steele, Mississippi and Bonnie Brae. We encourage you to call them as well and express your concerns for the safety of our children and the peace of our neighborhood.

Pop-tops & ?“scrape-offs?” are very common in Bonnie Brae, and this is probably the most emotional issue in our neighborhood. Some of the ?“spec?” homes being built are very large and take up much of their lots. This is a tough issue to regulate and everyone has an ?“opinion?”. Some new ordinances were passed to limit sizes, but more needs to be done. The Board is looking at taking a more active role in these issues.

Lastly, but very important-- we need new volunteers and board members... it is time for some ?“new blood?”, and we have many new folks in the neighborhood. Get involved! Do it now! Participation is a very simple act, just contact one of the Board Members on the left side of this page, and let us know where you would like to donate your time (i.e.):
