Dear Brother Knights,
The last week of September and the first two weeks of October have been very exciting and rewarding. My many thanks go out to Mr. Maurice Harvey, our DD, for performing the Installation for Grand Knight. He had former DD Stanley Kowalski, Skip Graziano, Fran Kennedy, and Charles Morreale, all 4th degree honor guards from Cardinal O?’ Connell Assembly, to assist in the ceremony. It was a great night.
The first week of October belongs to ?“Tootsie Roll Drive?”. It was our very public roll of the Knights of Columbus in our Braintree community. Our members were out in public with the yellow aprons and plastic buckets to accept donations for our Special Needs Children. Over the past 6 years we have received over $36,000 in aid as a result of drive. This year we had help from the Confirmation class from St. Clare?’s Church. Seventeen (17) young ladies and gentlemen were doing their Community Service Activity by helping at Stop & Shop and Dunkin Donuts at Tedeschi Plaza. The grand total that helped in the drive was 5l. I am pleased to say that the first principle of our order of charity was achieved.
The Annual Charity Dinner was held October 20th. Over $150,000 was turned in to the State Council, with many more councils to be heard from. The largest return was from Chelmsford, $16,395.00. Great Job?….Braintree?’s return was the 10th largest. The total was $6,534.60 Again ?…?…Great Job?…?…?…?…?…
Remember, membership is the key to our organization. We need new members and retain the ones that we have. If you know a person that would make a good K. of C. man, ask him to become one. Always have a form 100 with you.
This is your council. Be an active member.
Fraternally,
William C. Welch
Grand Knight.
Our Christmas party for all the children will be held on Saturday December 15, 2007 from l0 A.M. to Noon. We will have entertainment, the camera crew is in training and will be ready, the face painting team is ready, and the pancake cooking chefs are ready to go.
COME EARLY AND STAY LATE BECAUSE SANTA WILL BE THERE?…?…?…?….
A charge of $l0.00 per family has been suggested
The scheduled meeting (27 Nov.) will start with a Mass at St. Francis of Assisi at 6:30 P.M. The Mass is for the deceased members of the BRAINTREE COUNCIL. We will be joined by the Catholic Daughters of America, Braintree Council. This is the first time that we have had a joint venture in honoring our past members. The supper will follow after the Mass. I am hoping that Fr. Colarusso will join us in the supper.
