MORE HONORS FOR FLORA GIL KRISILOFF
Newly elected BCC Chairwoman Wendy-Sue Rosen acknowledged the many contributions of her predecessor, Flora Gil Krisiloff, noting that ?“Flora has made my job much easier by establishing this Council as a solid, well respected organization with integrity and influence.?” Chairwoman Rosen read a congratulatory letter from Congressman Henry Waxman, then introduced others who bestowed honors, including County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Laurie Newman, Sr. Field Deputy to State Senator Sheila Kuehl, and Jay Greenstein, Field Representative to State Assemblyman Paul Koretz. Supervisor Yaroslavsky noted that he had worked on community issues with Krisiloff in the past, and had supported her when she ran for the office of City Council representative, but ?“her loss was my gain.?” Ms. Krisiloff serves as the Supervisor?’s Westside Senior Field Deputy and is also the point person in the areas of Mental Health and Homelessness. ?“There couldn?’t be a better place for me to be,?” Ms. Krisiloff responded when accepting the Supervisor?’s ?“Resolution.?”

PHIL ENBODY ?– BRENTWOOD?’S NEW SENIOR LEAD OFFICER
Twenty-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, Phillip Enbody is Brentwood?’s new Senior Lead Officer, filling the spot Dennis Hinman left vacant when he recently retired. Officer Enbody served for many years as Sr. Lead Officer in West Los Angeles, south of Wilshire Boulevard. He said that he would focus on local crime, which he hopes to reduce by 10%. He will send weekly e-mails to the public via the BCC and homeowners association e-mail distribution lists, reporting on crime and other public safety issues.

BRENTWOOD GATEWAY MONUMENT SIGNS AND CENTENNIAL VAULT
BCC Representative James Murphy presented the West LA-Brentwood Rotary?’s proposal for gateway monuments on the median strip at the east and west entrances to Brentwood on San Vicente Boulevard. The east entrance is near the Bringham cross street and the west entrance is at 26th Street. The 3-ft. tall and 10-ft. wide monuments will be of granite construction with stainless steel letters and will include Brentwood?’s coral tree logo. A time-capsule vault will house mementos of Brentwood?’s centennial anniversary and will be buried in a location to be determined. Brentwood Beautiful originated the concept years ago in connection with planning other improvements to give the San Vicente business corridor a cohesive look. Brentwood Beautiful hired reputable urban planner, Robert Tocata, to develop plans for bus benches, waste receptacles and sidewalk paving. Mr. Murphy noted that Barbara Goldenberg was instrumental in the original project. The San Vicente Design Review Board (SVDRB) approved the original plans. Mr. Murphy said that the plans drawn in 1993 included materials that are no longer available. The plans will need to be updated and will then be presented to the SVDRB for final approval. The project will require approximately $25,000. According to Mr. Murphy, the Rotary Club will contribute $5,000. Bill Kamer said that Douglas Emmett plans to make a significant contribution. The BCC passed a motion to support the project, subject to the approval by the San Vicente Design Review Board of the final design and materials. The BCC urges the Brentwood constituent organizations and stakeholders to assist the Rotary Club?’s efforts to implement the project.

BRENTWOOD CENTENNIAL STAMP CANCELLATION
Barbara Smith and Ken Chotiner of the Brentwood Historical Society spoke about the Brentwood Centennial Stamp Cancellation, which will be used at the Brentwood Post Office from March 1st through April 1st. Father Donie Keohane of St. Martin of Tours Church is the artist who designed the oversized stamp cancellation, which depicts familiar Brentwood scenes: coral trees, Getty Center, landmark gas station in Barrington Village, Archer School and VA Chapel. International publicity has been generated through the Philatelic Society. Barbara Smith asked the BCC to share information of this with the groups we represent.

HEARING FOR PROPOSED FBI BUILDING
Tuesday, March 14 is the only public hearing scheduled in connection with the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the nearly 1 million sq.-ft. high rise FBI Headquarters proposed for the site of the Federal Building, 11000 Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood. Two sessions are planned from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 10740 Wilshire Blvd. Copies of the DEIS are available at the Donald Bruce Kaufman-Brentwood Branch Library, the West Los Angeles Regional Branch Library, and the GSA (General Services Admin.) Los Angeles Offices, 11000 Wilshire Boulevard, 7th floor. Public comment must be received by April 24, 2006, and should be sent to GSA :

NEXT BCC MEETING: TUESDAY, APRIL 4, 2006
The next BCC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Brentwood Kaufman Library. The agenda includes Marlene Canter of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The BCC meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings are usually held in the Community Room of the Brentwood Kaufman Library.
