The process for dead ending of Long St has been completed. Jersey barriers were put into place June 5, 2008. PDOT has taken action to close off access to SE McLoughlin via SE Long Street due to the efforts of the residents of Long St.
Long Street has long been used as an on ramp to the “McLoughlin freeway”. The project will be completed by July 1. There will be concrete barriers put into place at the McLoughlin access point. This will make SE Long St a "No Outlet" street and will prevent access from McLoughlin .
The headline in the Portland Tribune recently announced that the price tag for the Milwaukie / Portland MAX line would be $1.4 billion dollar price tag. Best guess is that this is an accurate number and the final price may be even higher. Other news to counter that is that projected rider ship has also increased, now up to 25,000 daily riders. PDOT and the Bureau of Planning will be considering the idea of combining the proposed Rhine and Holgate stations into a station at SE Center Street.
