State of the Development:
We?’ve had a lot going on within Buckingham Greene during the past couple of months. From the collection of dues, to playground maintenance, to 4th of July parades, the summer has been a productive one. First of all, a very special thanks to all of you who have been generous enough to volunteer and help. A few individuals have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and are deserving of some special recognition.
First, Lani Gibson continues to lead the landscape committee, taking such wonderful care of the landscaping around the entrance to the development. Lani has been caring for the flowers and plants for a number of years now, and we all are grateful for her efforts. Thanks again Lani!
Miriam Sigler has been leading the effort to put together our first ever community directory. The directory will go a long way in helping all of us to get to know each other just a little bit better. Thank you Miriam for all your time and effort.
Ann Diggins continues to work with our insurance company as we deal with the Arden lawsuit. Between dealing with lawyers and other insurance company representatives, Ann has devoted many an hour to this effort. Thank you Ann for all that you do.
Blair Nowland was instrumental in organizing our first annual 4th of July community parade. It was a tremendous success, and everyone who participated had fun (children and adults alike). A big thanks goes to Blair and the entire Social Committee for putting the parade together. We look forward to more community events/outings in the near future.
Debbie Ross has been doing a wonderful job of chairing the Architectural Review Committee. Please remember to submit plans to Debbie (106 Scotts Way) when planning any exterior projects/improvements. Thank you Debbie and all the Committee members for your participation.
And finally, thank you Alan Herring for agreeing to continue on as Treasurer. Alan is responsible for ensuring our bills are paid and the dues collected. He?’s done a wonderful job for the past number of years, and we as a community appreciate all of his efforts.
And remember, it?’s never too late to volunteer if you are interested in helping. Simply contact any member of the Board of Directors, or any of the committee members to participate. You can make a difference by giving just an hour of your time a month!
Deed Restriction Update:
Thanks to all who returned their ballots with the 6 proposed modifications/amendments to the current deed restrictions. While the response has been good, we still have a number of homeowners who have not as of yet responded. Please take just a few minutes to fill out your ballot and return to Paul Zoppi at 109 Scotts Way. If you have misplaced your ballot, please contact Paul (529-7760) to request a new one. It is extremely important that the entire community participates and has a chance to express their opinions.
In addition, several additional proposals have been presented and will be added to the list of proposed modifications (specifically, a proposal involving sheds and another addressing the allowable height of fences). We will be discussing all of the proposed deed restriction modifications at our next community meeting on September 4th. If members of the community have recommendations as to the wording, or would like to submit additional proposals for deed restriction modifications/amendments, you are encouraged to either forward them directly to Paul, or bring them with you to the meeting.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
2002 Assessment:
Thanks once again for your prompt attention to the 2002 annual assessment. We had a 100% response rate within the community. The Maintenance Corporation has been able to get a great deal accomplished as a result (playground maintenance, small retention pond maintenance, grass cutting, etc.). We anticipate that the annual assessment for next year (and annually going forward) will be in the $100-$150 range. Please feel free to contact any member of the Board of Directors with questions.
Community Services:
Samantha Ross at 106 Scotts Way would like to offer both baby-sitting and pet-sitting services to members of the community. She recently completed her baby-sitting certification. Please feel free to contact Sam at 475-5830 if you are interested in hearing more about her baby-sitting and/or pet-sitting services.
Daniel Tryon at 110 Scotts Way is offering grass-cutting services to members of the community. Please feel free to contact Daniel at 475-5034 if you are interested in hearing more about his lawn mowing service.

Community Corner:
Keep an eye out for upcoming communications from the Social Committee. We will be trying to organize both a community picnic (sometime during September), as well as a Halloween parade (late October). Anyone wishing to help organize either event should contact a member of the social committee (Blair Nowland, Rita McCann, Eileen Schmitt or Noreen Gawley).
Important Notice Regarding Radon Inspection:
As was communicated in our last community newsletter, several homeowners have recently had their homes tested for elevated levels of Radon. Having your home tested is easy and inexpensive. Simply purchase a home test kit from any local hardware store. Call the Delaware Help Line at 1-800-464-HELP, and ask for the Radon Program for more information.
Tip of the Month:
Did you know that our District Representative, Wayne Smith, holds a weekly open forum at the Brew Ha Ha Restaurant, located in the upper part of Branmar Plaza? The meetings are from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m., Tuesday mornings. Wayne buys coffee for all! Why not stop by sometime to discuss issues, concerns or simply hear what issues are on other people?’s minds.
Contact us with Ideas:
If you have anything you would like to see published in our next quarterly newsletter, please drop off a note at 109 Scotts Way. Your input and feedback is greatly appreciated. As always, we are looking for volunteers to help with putting the newsletter together on a quarterly basis. It doesn?’t have to take up a lot of your time, and it should be a lot of fun. Please feel free to contact any of the Board Members if you are interested in participating.
Next community meeting will be Wednesday, September 4th at 7 pm.
Enjoy the Fall!
