Say Goodbye to the Summer of 2005
As hard as it is to believe, the summer of 2005 is quickly becoming a distant memory. We hope that everyone has enjoyed it, especially all the neighborhood children who recently returned to school. Following is a quick recap of some of the happenings within Buckingham Greene, as well as a preview of some exciting events yet to come.

2005 Assessment
Thank you once again for your prompt attention to the 2005 annual assessment. We had a 100% response rate within the community. The funds will be used for playground maintenance, grass cutting, insurance, etc. As always, your swift response was greatly appreciated by the Maintenance Corporation Board of Directors. Please feel free to contact any member of the Board with questions. Thank you!

Fun & Games
The Social Committee (Blair Nowland, Lani Gibson, Rita McCann, and Tammy Zoppi) continues to do a wonderful job organizing fun events for members of our community and their friends and relatives. Blair was particularly instrumental in organizing our fourth annual Independence Day community parade. The event was a great deal of fun for all of the participants (children and adults alike). After marching around the development in a full patriotic display of red, white, and blue colors, snacks and refreshments were made available at Blair?’s house (thanks again Blair).

In addition, the Social Committee organized our 3rd annual Blue Rocks outing at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. Residents attending were also treated to a spectacular fireworks display upon the completion of the game. Lani Gibson and Rita McCann were responsible for organizing this wonderful outing. Thanks again to the Social Committee. We all look forward to more events in the near future.

More Fun & Games - Adults Only Social
And for even more fun, our third ?“Adults Night Out Social?” will be held November 19th at Kid Shelleen?’s in Wilmington. The cost will once again be $30 per person, which will include a buffet style dinner with 4 entr?©e selections, salad, dessert, and non-alcoholic drinks (coffee, hot tea, and iced tea). A cash bar with our own bartender will be set up in the room. The cost is inclusive of all gratuities and room charges. The event is open to all adult residents of Buckingham Greene (sorry, no kids again). Checks should be made payable to the ?“Buckingham Greene Maintenance Corporation?”, and can be delivered to Rita McCann at 75 Weilers Bend.

So won?’t you please join us for some good food and good fun, with a whole bunch of great people? It will be a wonderful way to meet some of your new neighbors, and perhaps get reacquainted with some of your ?“old?” neighbors. The Adults Only Social has quickly become one of our most popular Buckingham Greene functions. If you have never attended this event before, it will be a fantastic opportunity for you to attend your very first. And if you have attended previously, please do consider joining us once again. Contact Rita at 529-7554 with any questions. Hope to see everyone there!

Community Meeting to be Held
Our next community meeting will be Tuesday, September 20th (starting at 6:45PM). The meeting will be held at the Brandywine Town Center on Naamans Road near Target. Please do make an effort to attend. We only meet twice per year, and while the Board appreciates how busy we all are with our professional and personal lives, we do need to take care of business here in the development.

First, please come prepared to sign and have each amendment that you are in favor of notarized (for those of you who couldn?’t make our March meeting). Jimmy Jarrell (26 Weilers Bend) has graciously agreed to lead that effort on behalf of the community. As always, we plan on having our local representative, Wayne Smith, available to speak to current issues and answer any questions you may have. We are also hoping to have a representative from Verizon to speak to our community regarding the work that was done in our development this summer, as well as to provide information on what new services will be available.

Please keep in mind that these community meetings are truly the most basic and lowest form of local government. It is vitally important that we all have an opportunity to express our opinions regarding matters that impact Buckingham Greene. Hope to see everyone on the 20th.

Announcements
Buckingham Greene would like to welcome some of our newest neighbors to the development. Guangliang Liu and Haining Xu recently moved into 43 Weilers Bend. Please be sure to say hello and introduce yourself to them. Welcome Guangliang and Haining! We all wish you and your family much joy and happiness in your new home.

In addition, Jimmy Jarrell and Lauren Pennell of 26 Weilers Bend were married in June. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon on a European cruise. Congratulations to both of them. The entire community wishes you and your family much happiness in your new lives together.

Community Corner
There continues to be concerns expressed by residents regarding pets in the community. If you have a dog or cat, please remember to clean up after them when walking your pet in the development. Not only should we extend this courtesy to our neighbors?’ yards, but we should also clean up after our pets in the common areas. And PLEASE don?’t let your pet run freely within the community and onto other?’s property. Just a little common sense and simple courtesy can go a long way in resolving any issues. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Lost Pet
Miriam Sigler, 42 Weilers Bend, is looking for help from the community in finding the family?’s lost cat. "Coco" has been missing since about August 24th. It is not unusual for Coco and the other family cat "Joey" to be gone for as many as three weeks at a stretch, especially in the summertime. However, Miriam is especially concerned since none of the food that she leaves outside for the cats has been touched in Coco's absence. In addition, Miriam can usually hear Coco meowing at night, and she has not heard that sound since about August 24th. Coco is brownish/black with medium length hair, and black lines accentuate her eyes. She is fat and does not warm up to strangers. At the time of her disappearance, she was particularly miffed about the fact that the family rescued a dog that now lives with them. Coco has all her vaccinations up-to-date, and also gets monthly flea and heartworm treatments that were current as of August 21st. If think you have spotted her, please call Miriam on her cell phone and leave her a message as to where you saw Coco and when. Miriam?’s cell number is 302-598-0691. Even if you get her voicemail, this is the most immediate way to reach her. Thank you.

Katrina Relief
If any residents are feeling frustrated by not being able to help the hurricane victims, Miriam has a co-worker who needs a dresser for her daughter and grandchildren from New Orleans. They will be coming to live with her co-worker on September 8th for at least 6 months. Over the next few weeks, Miriam will also learn what other items the family needs. You can bring these items to Miriam, or she will put you in touch directly with her co-worker. Miriam will be bringing her some clothes and toys at their monthly staff meeting on September 12th. The three grandchildren are ages 14 (girl), 6 (boy) and 4 (boy). Thank you to all for your support!

Halloween Parade
Don?’t forget to mark your calendars for our annual Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 30th. We will be parading around the community with games and food to follow. Don?’t miss out on the fun. The parade is open to all residents of Buckingham Greene and their friends and families. Keep an eye out for more details from the social committee coming soon. Children and adults are strongly encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costume.

Sunday Invitation ?– Artist?’s Reception
You are cordially invited to join Lisa Goodman (104 Scotts Way) in viewing some of her favorite works. The reception will be held at the Corner Bistro (3604 Silverside Road at the Rt.#202 intersection) on Sunday, September 11th from 3:00pm-5:00pm. A portion of the sales will benefit the Cab Calloway School of the Arts. There will be refreshments and a cash bar available for all guests.

Original prints will be on display for special order, along with Lisa?’s photo note cards. Lisa will be staying for dinner as well (the food is delicious). If you would also like to have dinner afterwards, reservations are recommended (call 302-477-1778).

Here?’s to hoping that everyone can make it. Emily, Lisa?’s daughter, will also be attending and children are welcome. If you can't make it to the reception, the artwork will be hanging for the remainder of the month. Please feel free to stop in and see it!

Contact us with Ideas
If you have anything you would like to see published in our next quarterly newsletter, please drop off a note at 109 Scotts Way, or send an email to pzoppi109@cs.com. Your input and feedback is greatly appreciated. As always, we are looking for volunteers to help with putting the newsletter together on a quarterly basis. It doesn?’t have to take up a lot of your time, and it should be a lot of fun. Please feel free to contact any of the Board Members if you are interested in participating.

Next community meeting will be September 20th at the Brandywine Town Center on Naamans Road. More details to follow soon.

Enjoy the Fall
