In Attendance: BCA Board members Susan Lindsay, Ann Bowling, Lily Witham, Jim Andrews, Bethany Pratt and Seann McKeel, Steve Hoyt (SEUL) and Anne Hughes.
“Imbibe” Liquor Committee Report- Bethany Pratt recently met with the owners of “Imbibe” to address the need for a Good Neighbour Agreement. Apparently there have been complaints from a neighbour about noise, with the issue causing problems between that neighbour and the owner. Bethany will attend the OLCC mtg. at SEUL on Dec. 14th.
Bridgehead Project/Big Box- Jim Andrews attended the SEUL meeting about the big Box issue. There have been 3 proposals submitted: Beam Development, Gerdling/Edlen Development and opus Northwest Development. Jim made up a comparison chart that breaks down each proposal into categories such as: total sqr. footage, total jobs created, retail space, housing units, total parking spaces, etc. Only the Beam Development proposal left out a Big Box Retailer as an anchor tenant. Beam also suggested 14,800 sq. ft. dedicated to light manufacturing. Beam also included plans for a theatre/gallery/museum space. A REMINDER: On Thursday, Dec. 9th there will be a developer’s proposal meeting from 4-7pm, and on Monday Dec. 13th a Public Workshop from 5-7PM, both meetings will take place at 800 NE Oregon Street.
St Francis Drug Sting- Susan Lindsay reported that the Portland Police recently did an undercover “sting” at the St. Francis campus and were able to purchase meth-amphetimine. The board discussed ways in which to handle this latest development. Susan is meeting with Rosie Sizer (SP??), Commander of the SE Precinct next week and will address our concerns to her.
WAMO- Susan Lindsay stated that by Christmas Portland Parks and Recreation (PPR) will have purchased the 4.5 acres for the community center. She also announced that the WAMO Advisory Group won a Spirit of Portland Award.
Lone Fir Cemetery-It is likely that the Multnomah County Board of Commssioners will approve the 6-month hiatus period requested by the Lone Fir Task Force. Susan Lindsay asked Commissioner Randy Leonard if there is any funding available from ONI (Office of Neighbourhood Involvement) to use for hiring a professional fundraiser. Susan also suggested that Union Pacific might be approached for funding.
Holiday Potluck-The annual BCA holiday potluck will take place on Thursday, Dec. 9th at 6PM, preceding the General Meeting, which starts at 7PM.
Meeting adjourned at 9PM.
