Jim Andrews made a motion to approve the February Board Minutes. Ann Bowling seconded the motion. Minutes were unanimously approved by the board.
Susan Lindsay made a couple of announcements. First, she noted that Amanda Fritz has set up her campaign office in Buckman at 18th & Ash. Amanda invited everyone to come and visit. Second, she noted that the Q center will be locating in Buckman at Water & Yamhill.
An officer from the SE Precinct gave a crime update. There is still a big problem with burglary and car prowls. There was a major arrest last month of three metal thieves.
Diane Linn spoke about her re-election campaign to stay on as county chair. She spoke about school funding, the public safety system, opening up the Wapato jail, mental health programs, homelessness and WAMO. If you would like more information you can visit her website at www.dianelinn.com
Ann Bowling gave a treasurers report. We have $3121.56
Ann Bowling also updated us about the Neighborhood Clean-Up which she is heading again this year. It will be held April 22nd from 9-12. If you need more information or would like to volunteer, please call Ann at 503-233-1495
Susan Lindsey gave us a WAMO update. Abe Farkas was at the meeting. He is working for PPS to help with the sale of the land.
Susan also gave us a URAC meeting update. Currently it looks like the community center would get 10% of the money, which would mean that the community center could afford to put in the field.
Gilly Burlingham gave a CEPAC update. They discussed the graffiti problem in the area. There is a graffiti clean-up program where business owners can get a graffiti clean-up kit. They noted that homeless crimes are down in the neighborhood. They also discussed the problem with the day laborers on Burnside and Ankeny.
Jim Andrews gave an update from the Burnside Bridgehead CAC. There is still no design for the building. They have a major concern with the Burnside/Couch couplet and the fact that its completion date is still too far off for them.
CJ from the Make Healthcare Work Campaign came to ask us to sign postcards saying that we would like to have a Healthcare Advisory Board for the city formed. They work on healthcare planning, where hospitals should go, work with healthcare labor union, etc.
Rob Justice from JOIN came to talk about the Key Not A Card Program. They hope to get one person a day into permanent housing.
