01/12/06 General Meeting Minutes

General Meeting

In Attendance: BCA Board Members: Susan Lindsay, Gilly Burlingham, Ann Bowling, Bethany Pratt, Brianne Eastburn, Lily Witham and Jim Andrews. Also attending: Steve Hoyt (SEUL), Abe Pfeifer, Carolyn Ostergren, Amanda Fritz, Dave Dobler, Larry Koppy, Spencer Vail, Mary Francillon, Cathy Lamb-Mullin, Mike Wolfson, Shannon Caufield, Gary Berger (SEUL), Shawn Helm, Dan Campbell, Ian Clemons, Don MacGillivray, Pete Bruha and Roger Montoya.

Abe Pfeifer from the Foursquare Church announced that he is leaving Portland and moving to Colorado. He has talked with his colleagues and agrees that they would like to keep the relationship with the BCA open

Lily Witham made a motion to approve the January 2006 Board Meeting Minutes. Bethany Pratt seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved by the board.

Amanda Fritz came to discuss her views about running for commissioner. She is running against Dan Salzman. You can learn more about her campaign at amandafritz.com

Tom Potter and Rosie Sizer are holding a neighborhood livability meeting on January 30th at Buckman Elementary from 6-8pm.

Dave Dobler the SE precinct crime analyst came to discuss the crime report. He said that overall crime is dropping in Buckman.

Spencer Vail who is a contractor for T-Mobile came to discuss a cell roof mount that is going to be put up on a building at 18th & Morrison. The public input discussion period has already ended and it was approved by the city.

Jim Andrews gave an update on the Burnside Bridgehead Citizen’s Advisory Committee. The Burnside/Couch couplet is a major issue for the project, it won’t be completed until 2009 and this is causing some concern for traffic flow for the bridgehead. The public is welcome at the general meetings and public comment is taken at the beginning and ending of the meetings.

Susan Lindsay gave a quick update on WAMO. Abe Farkas has replaced Larry Dully. The decision about selling the land will be made before February.

Roger Montoya came to tell the BCA that he would like to start a salsa dancing night at in Imago Theatre. He will be back to tell us more about his plan when he applies for the liquor license.
