(Board Business)

Board responsibilities
· Susan Lindsay will continue to serve as chair
· Cathy Lamb-Mullin will continue to serve as secretary
· Adam Zucker will serve as treasurer
· Mike McCarthy will serve as vice chair
· Jeff West will edit the Buckman Voice
· Eric O’Conner will continue to chair the liquor committee

Articles to be submitted to Jeff by Aug 14; Target publication date is early September

(General meeting)

Public Safety (Officer Robert Pickett)
Late night activity occurring at Colonel Sumners Park
Still looking for solution to homeless camping occurring in the neighborhood
Crime stats – increase in car prowls (catalytic converters are a hot item)

The house on 16th & Morrison will be used to temporarily house male juvenile offenders while their Tigard facility is rehabbed; the youth will be bussed to Tigard for school and not allowed to leave the facility
The long-term plan is to use the building to house females in the foster care system (probably starting the beginning of 09)

Historic Designation committee (Mary Francillon)
Group looking for a new name since the actual ‘historic designation’ won’t occur
Shared a flyer to recruit other neighborhoods to get involved in preserving the historic homes in Portland.

Open house @ the Portland Building, July 22 11:30am-1pm & 4:30pm – 6pm

9th Avenue Bike Boulevard (Adam Zucker)
Motion made by Jeff West for the BCA to write a letter to Roger Geller with PDOT requesting that SE/NE 9th Avenue investigated as a potential bike boulevard to be included in the bike master plan; Motion seconded by Don MacGillivray; vote was unanimous with Adam abstaining.

· Land use Committee, followed by the Public Safety Committee - Last Thursday, 6:30 pm – 8pm, Buckman Elementary
