The Eastbank Farmers Market will open for the season June 1st. It is located at Hinson Baptist Church on 20th Avenue.

Brian Bennett from OPUS came to discuss the Burnside Bridgehead Development. He gave a quick description of the project and how it will fit in to the neighborhood. He said that they were not using federal dollars for funding as originally planned. The neighbors are a little concerned about the above ground parking structure but Brian said that they will make it look like the rest of the building and that it shouldn?t be an issue.

Susan Lindsay gave us an update about the Burnside/Couch Couplet. The westside is looking to decrease capacity and this would be a serious issue for the whole project. Jim Andrews made a motion for the BCA to authorize Susan Lindsay to write a letter of concern to PDOT and Sam Adams stating that we are not being involved in a decision to reduce capacity and also we would like to make sure that the couplet will be pedestrian and bike friendly. Lily Witham seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by the board.

Susan Lindsay updated us about the Eastside Streetcar. She stated the options that are being looked at. Jim Andrews made a motion for Susan Lindsay to write a letter to PDOT and Sam Adams stating that if the streetcar is approved that the BCA recommends the Grand/MLK alignment. Gilly Burlingham seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by the board.

Ruth Harschfield came to talk to the group about sidewalk safety. She handed out pamphlets on crosswalk laws and how important it is to follow those laws.

Erik Sten came to talk to us about what is new in city council. He talked about his role in the PGE tax inquiry, voter owned elections and how to get more families to enroll their children in our schools and affordable housing for those families.

Susan Lindsay let us know that that the eastside parking meter plan was being shelved for the time being.
Lily Witham asked for help in delivering the newsletter. If anyone can help, please contact her.
