BCA General Meeting
January 17, 2008

Meeting called to order

Board elections
Jim Andrews made a motion to nominate Don MacGillivray) & Eric O’Connor to fill the two vacant board positions; Cathy Lamb-Mullin seconded the motion; the vote was unanimous

Police report (Officer Robert Picket)
· General crime stats
· Increase in prowls West of 12th
· Monthly community policing meeting the 4th Wednesday of each month @ SE precinct; this month’s subject is ‘homelessness & public safety’
· Parks department is considering putting up a fence & gate around the shelter at Colonel Sumner Park

Community Connect (Don MacGillivray)
· Goals are to 1. Increase diversity & numbers of involved
2. Increase community capacity
3. Increase impact of decisions
· Looking for letter of support from BCA board prior to Feb 27 council meeting
· Further discussion to take place at Feb. board meeting

Lone Fir Cemetery
Need to landscape old building site (without digging into existing graves) & develop master plan

Big Pipe/BES (Joe Annett)
Community outreach presentation explaining process

Hire site for day laborers (Jonath ?)
· VOZ has the contract to develop the site at Everett & MLK
· City owned property to be leased to operator
· Will be visiting the idea of entering into a ‘Good Neighbor’ agreement
· Will return to BCA meetings as more details develop

Portland Public Schools (Jim Andrews)
· January 23 meeting @ Franklin High School, 7pm to discuss building rehabilitation
· Details available on PPS website

SEUL is sponsoring a fundraising training on January 23, 2008

Bridgehead
Expect changes in the model (less housing, large format retail)

WAMO Community Center
Bond measure in 2010

Meeting adjourned 9:10 pm
