Butchertown, Butchertown, where art thy soul?
Lost in the heart of a spagetti bowl.

Ribbons of concrete criss-cross and surround;
threatening awareness of a railroad underground.

Piggies succumbed by tanning their hide;
now suffer slowly from carbon monoxide.

They rambled through streets at a leisurely pace;
are menaced today by vehicles that race.

The connection to New Orleans by river and townhouses; bulldozed today for sheet metal warehouses.

Wrought iron fences, cornices, three brick thick walls, ... History...belongs to us all.

Restore Butchertown to its storied past.
