Thomas Edison House will be hosting a tour of various gardens in the historic Butchertown neighborhood from 1-6 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2002. The tour offers insight on unique methods of gardening in the urban landscape. Copies of this year?’s commemorative poster will be available for purchase. The poster is based on a watercolor of irises by local artist, Donald Falk.
The garden Tour benefits Thomas Edison House, a museum that recalls Edison?’s early years as a telegrapher aw well as his later years as a prolific inventor.
The museum is located in a circa 1850 house where
edison boarded while working as a telegrapher at Louisville?’s Western Union office in 1866-67.
The museum?’s mission is to educate the public about
the significance of Thomas Edison?’s achievements
in science and technology.
Then Garden Tour begins at Thomas Edison House at 729-31 East Washington st. Reservations are available for $8 per person; tickets will be $10 at the door. For more information, call (502) 5247.
