Presidents Report

Dear Neighbors,

At the CONA Board Meeting on August 15, County Commissioner, David Welsh will be our guest speaker. He will give us an update on what the County Commissioners are working on. I suggested an interesting subject to cover would be the county?’s rapid transit plans. Also, I was contacted by some of the retail at the PIER who would like a few minutes at our meeting. They want your support at the August 16th public hearing on New PIER Management. It seems that the company, which manages the PIER, may change and if that occurs some of them may lose their businesses.

What would you like the goals our next Police Chief to be? The Mayor is about to pick a new Police Chief. I would encourage everyone to contact the Mayor and let him know what they think the goals of the new Police Chief should be. I for one would like to see a Chief that listens to the people, enforces the law on speeders, believes in Community Policing, supports his officers and arrest the BAD GUYS. A Bennie Holder type Police chief would be a welcome improvement, one who get DRUG DEALERS off the streets, out of our neighborhoods and in jail. Drug dealers aren't role models.

Bob Funari has been the Editor of this newsletter for years. He has done a
TERRIFIC job, but he needs a rest. We are still looking for someone to take on this responsibility. We need your help, if you feel that you could do this job PLEASE contact the Vice President of CONA.

I hope to have some information on the Airport and the Post Office by the next meeting. See you there.

Your Neighbor, Jim Biggerstaff
