Presidents Report

Dear Neighbors,

At the Town Meeting, which was held on August 7, about 65 people were in attendance. This Town Meeting was a Candidates Form, unfortunately a large number of the 65 people were candidates. I was hoping more people have would attended, but the candidates ware glad that we gave them the opportunity to be heard. We served refreshments and the candidates were able to speak to the group and answer some questions.

On Aug 4th, Mike Dove left his position as the Administrator of Neighborhood Services. We would like to thank him for all his hard work and wish him luck at his new job. The Mayor has decided that he will not fill that position, which means Susie Ajoc, will become our direct link to the Mayor. She will be moving her office into the Mayors wing of City Hall. This is about how the Neighborhood Partnership Department was 4 years ago.

City Council has amended the ordinance on Mailboxes at curbside. They are now illegal, unless you purchase a permit. The permit is good only 29 days, which will allow you enough time to correct an issue, such as a dog problem, and still have your mail delivered to your home.

At the August Board Meeting, Rick Stellgis and Chip Wells will present new ideas on crime prevention. They were schedule for one of our other meetings but could not make it. Hopefully they will make it to this one.

I talked to the City?’s Legal Department about a week ago and they said that the ordinance on 25-MPH Speed Limit is about ready to go to a Public hearing. I am hoping to have a report at the August Board Meeting and I would like to see this passed before school started.

See you at the next board meeting.

Your neighbor, Jim Biggerstaff
