Founded in 1958, Cable was named in honor of R.R. Cable, a railroad tycoon from Illinois. The school was built on part of the huge land holdings owned and donated by Mr. Cable.
Cable Elementary School is located west of downtown and just north of Lackland Air Force Base. Still a quiet side of San Antonio, it has aged gracefully. In the 1950's and 60's, it was primarily a military community and home to several thousand servicemen and women. Since then, it has grown not only in size but also in its diverse population.
Cable serves more than 470 students from several ethnic backgrounds including Hispanic, Caucasian, Afro-American, Asian-Pacific Islander and American Indian/Alaskan Native. Cable offers Pre-kindergarten through Fifth Grade levels with many enrichment programs.
