CACTUS PARK WELCOMES COMMANDER QUILL
Commander Emmett Quill became Cactus Park Precinct?’s new commander on June 9th. Some may recognize the name because he was also the Commander for Cactus Park Precinct from April of 1996 through July 1998. While at Cactus Park previously he developed a crime prevention strategy called BRP (burglary reduction program). This program was so effective it went citywide and then nation-wide! Each precinct now has a burglary reduction officer liaison that meets daily with the burglary detectives in each area. Information is passed between patrol and the detectives on a timelier basis resulting in many more burglary suspects being apprehended. Quill has worked for the Phoenix Police Department for 27 years.
He has worked in Desert Horizon and South Mountain Precinct and Patrol Operations Bureau to name a few. As the Community Programs Coordinator for the precinct I was curious how he felt about community groups and their place in crime fighting. Quill expressed to me he thought neighborhood groups were the key to crime fighting and without their support and dedication to make their neighborhoods a better place to live, our job would be more difficult.
Currently, Cactus Park Precinct has a population of over 300,000 people. Quill will be working closely with the neighborhood enforcement teams as well as the patrol officers to create an action plan to make Cactus Park Precinct a safer place for residence to live in. . . ☻
