Jul 21, 2003

Why wait until Halloween for your Frankenstein fix? Celebrate the monster that has fascinated readers and movie-goers for more than 150 years during Burton Barr Central Library?’s "Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature."

The exhibit opens April 30 with a free reception from 5:30-7 p.m. at the library, 1221 N. Central Ave. Guests will receive commemorative neck bolts and mingle with costumed characters inspired by Mary Shelley?’s book. After the reception, from 7-8 p.m., Arizona State University Professor Mark Lussier will discuss the ethical issues raised by the horror classic.

"Frankenstein" will be at the library through June 6 and can be viewed during regular library hours. Central Library is one of the few libraries in the Southwest selected to host the free traveling exhibit, which was developed by the National Library of Medicine in collaboration with the American Library Association.
