NEIGHBORHOOD PATROLLERS ASSIST POLICE IN AUTO THEFT REDUCTION

Members of the Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol were invaluable in assisting the Phoenix Police Department during five separate VIN etching events that took place in Cactus Park Precinct.
Etching the Vehicle Identification Number into the car windows works as a deterrent to auto theft and aids in the recovery of vehicles where the Vehicle Identification Number may not have been visible.

Cars could also sign up for the Watch Your Car Program at the same time. This is a program designed for people who do not normally drive their cars during the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. This is also the time frame when most vehicles are stolen. Interested applicants filled out a form and were given decals that would alert officers to the fact the car has been entered into the program, and should be stopped to identify the driver during these hours.

Phoenix Neighborhood Patrollers assisted the Phoenix Police Department in five separate events which resulted in 554 vehicles being VIN Etched and 469 vehicles signing up for the Watch Your Car program.

As you can see from the total numbers of vehicles etched and entered into the Watch Your Car program, we could have NEVER done it without our Phoenix Neighborhood Patrollers. Thank you all!. . .☺
