Keep Lawns and Properties Looking Good During Spring

Spring brings new growth and new life. New growth can result in beautiful scenery, if maintained appropriately, or it can result in a neighborhood eyesore and possible fire hazard.

In an effort to prevent the latter from occurring, the Neighborhood Services, Public Works and Fire departments have teamed up to reduce dead, dried and overheight vegetation in Phoenix neighborhoods.

Staff from all three departments will be surveying Phoenix neighborhoods this spring to identify properties with overheight and dead vegetation. Properties with these conditions will be addressed through the Neighborhood Services Department's enforcement of
the Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance.

The city?’s Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance requires property owners to keep their properties free from dry or dead weeds, grass and other vegetation.

Weeds and grass, if present, must be maintained at a height of six inches or shorter. Properties, alleys and easements also must be kept free from litter, garbage, or any other condition that presents a health, fire or safety hazard.
