Their name, address, number, and type of crime, all are available on the Arizona D.P.S. State web site for any citizen to read. The site, www.azsexoffender.com, is updated every night at 10:00 p.m. If you don?’t have a computer, you can visit any City of Phoenix Public Library and they will show you how to find this information.

As at 10:00 p.m., March 1, 2003 there were only 5 registered sex offenders shown for our 85029 zip-code. Three are level 2 offenders and two are level 3 offenders (the highest risk). Both of the level 3 offender?’s crimes involved a child or youth. Both are living in the 19th Ave., & Cactus Rd., area.

But, before you begin to feel a level of comfort, consider that there are currently 169 absconders; offenders that were required to register or reregister when they moved (and didn?’t), plus over 7,000 total, in the state. So, no matter what the report says, our children are not truly safe. All parents must take responsibility to Know Exactly where their children are, that a responsible person is watching over them, and that they are safe from harm. Our neighborhood is no worse nor better than any other. This is a national crisis that has always been there ?— we just didn?’t have the benefit of this notification before ?‘Shannon?’s Law?’ was enacted.

There is no reason for any of us to panic. But we do have to change our way of tbinking ?— just as we did after the disaster on September 11 . Don?’t assume anything, when it comes to the safety and well being of the children. Be Alert/Aware!. . .☺
