Illegal Parking in Residential Neighborhoods

In recent days and weeks both the police department and the zoning department have received numerous complaints of illegal parking in residential neighborhoods. Please reprint and distribute this article in an attempt to educate your neighbors.
Common examples of illegal parking complaints are:
?• Semi-tractor trailers
?• Trailers for boats, construction equipment, etc
?• Work trucks, or operating a business out of a home
Phoenix City Code 36-140 states No person shall stand or park a vehicle with a rated chassis capacity in excess of three-fourths (3/4) of a ton, any tractor, semi-trailer, tractor-trailer, trailer, or bus on a local or collector street in a residential zone except during the process of loading or unloading such vehicle.
This includes any vehicle larger that 3/4 ton or any type trailer. This is a violation which can be cited by police as well as zoning. The fine for this citation is $50.00.
In addition, Phoenix City Code 41-702-A-5-a4 states no semi-trailer or tractor, no commercial vehicle with a rated capacity of more than 12,000 pounds; and/or not more that one commercial vehicle with a rated capacity of less than 12,000 pounds rated capacity shall be parked on a lot in any residential district other than in conjunction with uses permitted by permit. This violation is addressed by zoning upon receiving complaint of violation.
Other common parking violations include:
?• Unregistered or inoperable vehicle parked on street or visible from beyond property line.
?• Parking a vehicle displayed for sale on the street, or working on a vehicle on the street for other than emergency purposes.
?• Parking on a sidewalk
?• Parking on a non-dust free lot
