See you there! ï‚‚ Big Development Goes Bust The area at the southwest corner of Camelback Road and Central Avenue will not be redeveloped in the near future. The media reported that neighborhood preservationist saved the area. ï‚‚ Festival of Lights Parade A great event for the whole family. This years parade is December 5th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Theme is AGoing Green for the Holidays@. We will need to build a float, anyone want to help? Some ideas have been suggested, more are needed. Please bring your ideas to our next meeting, this will be a fun project. Our President, Bruce Kern has always been instrumental in getting this together, lets all show our support of this worthwhile activity. ï‚‚ Crime Increasing? Please be vigilant to observe unusual activity in your neighborhood. There are several good tips to follow: 1. Do not leave items of value or interest visible in your car. Several cars have been broken into and paperwork, checks, identification, etc., taken. 2. Tools, small equipment, need to be secured. 3. One neighbor had their dog stolen. The idea being people are looking for anything of value. Remember to call our Community Action Officer Julie Smith on her cell phone at 602-361-4501 or notify her by e-mail at: julie.smith@phoenix.gov. Julie came to our recent board meeting, she wants to be Involved in our carnation neighborhood - lets keep her informed! ï‚‚ Graffiti Update Most of our local graffiti is now on almost hidden places; yellow poles, the back of street signs, behind bushes, and on sidewalks. Someone tried to graffiti the big new wall that is now visible from Indian School Road on the now vacant lot. ï‚‚ Downtown street closures Central Avenue is closed from Jefferson Street to Washington Street until next summer. For anyone who transfers from the light rail to the number 0 bus, or who have business at the county complex there may be additional walking distances to their destinations. ï‚‚ Light Rail Adventures Every trip is an event, being safe is job #1. If you carry cash, wear two pear of socks with Your cards and/or money between them. Never show others that you have a cell phone. The cars and stations are remarkably clean. The ASU students are the most fun, they kind of make the system, who would have thought that? And, at the Mesa end of the line there is an IHOP, and at the Christown end a JB's. ï‚‚ Veterans Day Parade and Fly Over There will be a military flyover and a big parade starting at the Veterans Administration Hospital on November 11th at 11:00 a.m..
