All Home Owners with Chimneys -- Beware!
Highly recommend all owners take a really close look at the upper portion of their chimneys for possible rotting of wood edging at the very top. Had to totally replace all the wood around the top of the chimney this past week. One of the four pieces was totally rotted, while the other three had water stains at the corners. Highly doubt the chimneys were correctly constructed by the team. During the time period when we had our roof replaced last fall, the inspector informed us he could see a lot of daylight coming through the chimney and this is not supposed to happen. This means water leaks.
