Casa View #1135 Neighbors
There will be a volunteer meeting on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 6:30 pm at St. Mark?’s Presbyterian Church. We will probably be in one of the classrooms but enter through the front door of the church.
The Volunteer?’s In Patrol application forms are available for those who are interested in taking the training. I will bring forms with me to the meeting and also will put some in an envelope on my front porch (10157 Casa View). A photocopy of your Social Security Card and Driver?’s License must also be included with the application. Please make a copy of the application form for your records. Use blue ink so the police know you are sending the original.
The ORIGINAL completed form, SS card copy, and DL copy may be mailed (no fax) to:
Sr. Corporal Ron Carpenter, VIP Program Coordinator
(Address is on the form)
Or
Bring to the meeting on Monday. If you choose to bring the completed form and photocopies to the meeting, please place in a sealed envelope (for security purposes), which we will place in a larger envelope.
Volunteers that are needed include:
?• Neighbors to pass out flyers every two to three months to small areas in our neighborhood.
?• Neighbors to make signs with vinyl letters ?–
o ?“Bulky Trash Weekend ?– 214/967-5151?”
o ?“Neighborhood Watch Meeting ?– 214/967-5151?”
?• Neighbors to keep the completed signs, place at street corners at appropriate times, and retrieve later.
?• A neighbor to take notes at the meetings, and place a summary on the web site. A position to be known as the ?“Recording Secretary?” or something similar.
?• Neighbors (several) who could drive a designated area of our neighborhood weekly, preferably on Sunday or Monday and record code compliance issues to be reported to the Chairman for submission to our Compliance District Manager. The designated area would not necessarily have to be your immediate neighborhood.
?• Neighbors who could keep track of all homes ?“For Rent?” or ?“For Sale?” in an assigned area of the neighborhood, report when the house has rented or been sold, and report when the new neighbor is moving in.
?• A neighbor who is willing to head a bilingual ?“Welcome Committee?” to visit new neighbors. We would like to give our new neighbors written information about our neighborhood such as garbage days and timeliness of garbage can placement at the curb; compliance code regarding bulky trash week; information about our group; voting information; city utility company phone numbers; political representation names, addresses, and phone numbers; then information like where the 75228 Post Office is located (Ferguson Road); the Library; grocery stores; schools; banks; churches; etc. Maybe we can ask some of the businesses to contribute a sample, or a certificate, or just a business card that could be included in the ?“Welcome Packet?”.
?• A neighbor has suggested that we try to do something about the Gus Thomasson medians. This will need to be investigated with the City with regard to our options.
o Maybe plant some flowers.
o Maybe a ?“Welcome?” sign.
o Maybe have a group similar to ?“Love the Lake?” to pick up litter once a month.
Other ideas?
Thanks, and please come Monday.
