In more than 150 years, Oregon City has built a proud history by being a city of Firsts. Among them: The first newspaper in the West, The Spectator in 1846; the first incorporated city west of the Rockies in 1844; even the first moonshine whiskey still built in Oregon Country in 1836. And now in 2003, it?’s making history again with the first annual, First City Arts Faire, July 12th and 13th!
The Oregon City Arts Commission, with the support of the Arts Action Alliance of Clackamas County and Oregon City Parks & Recreation, invites everyone to help Oregon City make history! Celebrate this new First with two fun-filled days of art, food and entertainment held on the grounds of the newly renovated Carnegie Center and adjacent Pioneer Center in Oregon City.
The First City Arts Faire will feature juried, local artists in myriad styles and mediums from fine art and sculpture, to textiles, ceramics, glass and garden art. In addition, the Kids 'n' Art program, sponsored by OCAC, will have booths available to give children and student artists an
opportunity to interact with professional artists as a part of its Community Arts Education and Enrichment plan.
